Equipment Shops

There are three different shops in the game that sell specific types of weapons, but unless you've only been playing this game for a week or two, you aren't likely to find any of the weapons that are sold in these shops to be anything of use. However, the shops themselves serve as an important function to the game, for they provide various services for you and your weapons.

Bill Smith's Weapon Shop is a very important building in the game, for he is the only shopkeeper in the game who will identify your weapons for the low cost of 40 marks. You can also sell your weapons to him for a nice amount of marks. If you're a new player, be sure to snag a Spike Helm and a Broad Sword when you have enough marks to spare.

Weapon Attack Defense Skill Net Stats Armament Cost Notes
Knife 2 0 -1 2 Right 13 marks This is the worst right-handed weapon in the game. Be sure to save the marks for a slightly better right-handed weapon.
Hatchet 4 0 -1 4 Right 46 marks Hatchets are an improved version of the Knife, but it still isn't a good weapon. Save your marks for a Broad Sword and skip this weapon.
Short Sword 5 0 0 5 Right 70 marks This sword is basically a Throwing Knife that doesn't provide skill points. Skip this one and save the marks for a Broad Sword.
Long Sword 7 0 0 7 Right 128 marks You can probably find a Throwing Knife with higher stats than this sword. Skip this one and save the marks for a Broad Sword.
Spear 9 0 1 9 Right 204 marks The Spear is basically an upgraded version of a Long Sword, but for 88 marks, you can get a Broad Sword instead.
Broad Sword 11 0 1 11 Right 292 marks This is the best right-handed weapon that you'll be able to get your hands on until you're allowed to enter the Forest at Level 8, so be sure to buy this sword.
Battle Axe 13 0 1 13 Right/Left 395 marks Although Battle Axes aren't good two-handed weapons, they can be used to make Swift Boots at the Dragon Guard. Battle Axes should only be bought for this purpose.
Pike 15 0 2 15 Right/Left 514 marks This is the most expensive weapon in the shop and also among the least useful. For 37 more marks, you can get a Spike Helm/Broad Sword/Spike Shield combo, which is far better than this weapon. You can also pick up some Pikes with better stats from the Soldiers.
Sling 4 0 4 4 Right 66 marks This right-handed weapon is almost identical to a really weak Throwing Knife. Skip this one and save the marks for a Broad Sword.
Short Bow 8 0 6 8 Right/Left 205 marks This two-handed weapon simply doesn't deliver. More often than not, you'll receive Long Bows from the Centaurs that have better stats than this weapon. Save your marks for a Broad Sword and skip this mediocre weapon.
Long Bow 12 0 8 12 Right/Left 410 marks This two-handed weapon usually isn't worth your money because you can get better ones from the Centaurs. Also, for 13 more marks, you can get a Broad Sword/Spike Shield combo, which is far better than this weapon.
Spike Helm 3 5 -2 8 Head 128 marks This is the best helmet that you're going to be able to get your hands on for a while, so be sure to buy one of these.
Main Gauche 2 2 1 4 Left 37 marks This is one of the worst left-handed weapons in the game and you're better off saving the marks for a Spike Shield at the Armoury.

Aimee Suitor's Armoury is a very important building in the game, for she is the only shopkeeper in the game who will polish all the rusted weapons in your backpack for 100 marks. If you're new to the game, be sure to snag a Scale Suit, a pair of Boots, and a Spike Shield when you have enough marks.

Armour Attack Defense Skill Net Stats Armament Cost Notes
Clothes 0 2 0 2 Body 13 marks This is the worst body armour in the game. If possible, save your marks for a Scale Suit and skip this one.
Leather Jacket 0 4 0 4 Body 46 marks In case your character isn't strong enough to slaughter the Gypsies, either buy one of these or save your marks for a Scale Suit.
Brigandine 0 6 -1 6 Body 97 marks It's slightly better than a Leather Jacket but it subtracts one skill point. Save those marks for a Scale Suit and skip this armour.
Chain Suit 0 8 -2 8 Body 166 marks This is an improved version of the Chain Suit, but a Scale Suit only costs 82 more marks.
Scale Suit 0 10 -2 10 Body 248 marks This armour provides a satisfactory amount of defense points and you should buy one unless you've been able to find a Half Plate with better stats.
Buckler 0 2 -1 2 Left 10 marks This is the worst left-handed armour in the game. Skip this one and save the marks for a Spike Shield.
Targe 0 4 -1 4 Left 36 marks This is an improved version of the Buckler, but you're better off saving your marks for a Spike Shield.
Shield 0 6 -2 6 Left 77 marks Unless you really need the extra defense point and are satisfied with the amount of attack points that you have, skip this one and buy a Spike Shield instead.
Spike Shield 3 5 -3 8 Left 131 marks This is the best left-handed armour that you'll be able to have until you're allowed to enter the Forest at Level 8, so buy one of these shields.
Sandals 0 0 3 0 Feet 9 marks This is the worst foot gear in the game and it doesn't provide any attack or defense points. Save those marks for a pair of Boots.
Shoes 0 2 5 2 Feet 33 marks This is an improved version of the Sandals, but you should save your marks for a pair of Boots instead. It'll only cost 46 more marks.
Boots 0 4 7 4 Feet 79 marks This is the best foot gear that you'll be able to get your hands on until you can enter the Forest when you reach Level 8. Buy a pair of these if you have enough marks.
Leather Cap 0 2 -1 2 Head 10 marks This is the worst head armament in the game. Skip this one and save those 10 marks for a Spike Helm at Bill Smith's.
Pot Helm 0 4 -2 4 Head 38 marks This is an improvement over the Leather Cap, but it still isn't worth your marks. Save your marks for a Spike Helm at Bill Smith's.
Chain Coif 0 6 -3 6 Head 80 marks Unless you really need the extra defense point, skip this one and buy a Spike Helm from Bill Smith's.

Shortleg Smithy's Weapon Shop isn't as important as the other two buildings that sell weapons and armour, but Smithy will offer to identify your weapons for 60 marks, which is just what you might have to do if you find yourself stuck in the Forest. If you're new to the Forest, be sure to snag a Steel Sword, a pair of Doc Martins, and a Sword Breaker.

Weapon Attack Defense Skill Net Stats Armament Cost Notes
Steel Sword 15 0 -3 15 Right 397 marks If you don't mind losing a few skill points, replace your Broad Sword with this weapon immediately. Be ready to replace this for a Unicorn Horn in the Forest.
Bill Hook 17 0 5 17 Right/Left 668 marks This mediocre weapon is the most expensive weapon in the shop and isn't worth it at all. Many of the Elf Bows that you'll receive from Elves and Snots in the Forest have better stats than this. Skip this one.
Sword Breaker 6 6 3 12 Left 352 marks This is a good left-handed weapon for a beginner, and you should immediately replace your Spike Shield with this. Be ready to replace this one for a War Tusk in the Forest.
Shakrum 13 0 7 13 Right 346 marks This is a respectable right-handed weapon for a beginner who needs a weapon that provides decent attack and skill. Be ready to replace this for a Unicorn Horn in the Forest.
Recurve Bow 16 0 9 16 Right/Left 660 marks This is the second most expensive weapon in the shop and is hardly worth the marks. If you really want to have a Right/Left weapon, the Bill Hook costs only 8 more marks.
Half Plate 12 0 -6 12 Body 279 marks You've probably already found a Half Plate from the Fields that's better than the one sold here. Skip this one.
Full Plate 15 0 -9 15 Body 428 marks The Full Plate costs too many marks for a beginner and subtracts too much skill to be effective. You should be able to find a lot of Mythril Mails in the Forest that are better than this.
Steel Buckler 0 5 -1 5 Left 70 marks The Steel Buckler is basically a downscaled version of the Shield that's sold at the Armoury. Skip this one.
Roman Helm 0 7 -3 7 Head 104 marks Unless you really need the extra Defense points, skip this one and keep the Spike Helm that you have on.
Doc Martins 4 6 5 10 Feet 212 marks This is the best foot gear that you'll be able to get your hands on for a while, so be sure to purchase one. Replace your Boots with a pair of these.
Mercury Sandals 0 0 20 0 Feet 285 marks Mercury Sandals generally aren't good foot gear because they don't provide any attack or defense points. Pass this one up for the Doc Martins.
